Painting Board
Painting board combines a sturdy board with a prepared painting surface and is practical for studies, plein-air work and projects that require little storage space.
Check size, stiffness and base coat
A thinner panel is light but can warp more quickly in heavy or wet applications. Pay attention to the texture of the priming and the types of paint for which the panel is suitable. A white surface makes colors start brightly; tinted grounds help to judge light and dark in proportion from the start.
Protect edges and back
Work on a dry, flat support and prevent a lot of moisture from being drawn to one side only. Test highly diluted paint or aggressive mediums on the edge first. Allow the work to dry flat, protect corners during transport and choose a framing or mounting system that does not pinch the paint layer against glass or pressure points.
