Cyanotype in four steps
A 19th-century technique, surprisingly simple. No darkroom needed — just sunlight and the right chemistry.
Mix
Dissolve components A and B separately in water. Mix them in equal parts just before use.
Coat
Apply the emulsion to paper or fabric. Leave to dry in a dark space.
Expose
Place objects or a negative on the surface. Expose for 5–20 minutes in sunlight.
Rinse
Rinse with water. The unexposed parts wash away — the iconic Prussian Blue appears.
