Clairefontaine Pastelmat 24 × 32 cm, 5 sheets

Five loose sheets for dry pastel

You receive five Clairefontaine Pastelmat sheets of 24 × 32 cm in the same selected colour. The 360 g/m² pastel card has a fine, velvety surface that grips pigment. It is designed for dry pastel: build colour in layers and alternate soft transitions with precise detail. This is a pack of loose sheets, not a pad or an assortment of fifteen colours.

Let the ground contribute

Choose a light, dark or coloured ground as part of your drawing. On a test strip, make three patches with the same pastel: a thin layer, two layers and a softly worked transition. Leave some paper visible between them. This lets you compare the influence of the paper colour without filling a whole sheet.

Layering and storage

Start with light pressure and judge the grip before adding more pigment. The fine grain supports both layered work and detail. Store finished drawings so that nothing rubs across the pastel. Grammage describes paper mass per square metre, not the weight of the whole pack.
