What does the metallic finish do?
The glossy metallic finish gives highlights and reflective subjects a distinctive appearance. Ilford identifies portraits, studio photographs, architecture and mechanical subjects as applications. Choose this finish when reflections can be part of the presentation; matt paper is an alternative for a quieter, non-reflective surface. The effect also depends on your photograph and the light in which you view the print.
Will your printer accept this paper?
The coating supports aqueous dye and pigment inks. Your printer must also handle roll media 43.2 cm wide, 260 gsm and 260 µm thick. Check the roll holder, core diameter, maximum roll diameter and maximum print length in your printer manual. The core diameter of this version is not confirmed. Suitable ink alone does not establish compatibility. A sheet-only printer cannot use this roll.
Set the roll width, print length and margins. Choose an appropriate glossy RC photo-paper setting and, where available, an ICC profile for your printer, ink and paper. Print a small test section before producing a long image. Check whether your printer’s automatic cutter is permitted for this paper; otherwise follow the instructions for separate cutting.
Preparing a useful test print
Start with a test containing skin tones, a bright area and dark details from your own image. Use appropriate coated glossy inkjet-paper settings and, where available, a profile for your exact printer, ink and paper combination. Check the crop in print preview: automatic fitting can remove edges. Handle paper by their edges and follow the printer instructions for feeding and handling prints.
